Arangetram
Arangetram
Bharatanatyam is a classical dance form originating in Tamil Nadu, India, dating back to 2000 years. This style focuses on the three main aspects of Nritta (pure dance), Nritya (interpretive dance), and Natya (dramatic dance). The term Bharatanatyam can be broken down into Bhava (expression) + Raga (musical mode) + TaLa (rhythm) + Natyam (theatre). Arangetram is a Tamil word meaning “ascending the stage” and is the solo dance debut of a Bharatanatyam student. The dancer shows her formal completion of basic training and embarks on a new journey in exploring higher levels of the art.
